The burning down of the Gilberts’ house was the turning point of the whole show, not Elena turning into a vampire, not even Jeremy’s death, but that house. It contained everything, absolutely everything that made Elena Gilbert, Elena Gilbert. The converse, her diary. The diary was a big deal. And she is probably going to regret it at some point, but this needed to happen. Elena Gilbert is not the girl we saw in the pilot, she is a woman now. One that makes her own decisions, the one that has been through so much, lost six parental figures and a brother. But Elena Gilbert lives. She gets up and moves on. She’s not that little girl from the pilot anymore, she hasn’t been one for a long time, she just couldn’t accept it. Burning down the house was her way of moving on, letting go. If you ask me this needed to happen a long time ago. This is the turning point in the show, this is the moment a girl becomes a warrior. Or acknowledges that she’s one, because Elena has been a warrior since the very beginning.
I don’t know about you but I have never been prouder of Elena Gilbert.
will never get over the fact that Elena lost 6 parental figures and a brother and people are still hating on her.

i don’t think Elena Gilbert is weak or whiny, I don’t think Elena Gilbert is stupid, I don’t think Elena Gilbert was selfish this episode, and I do NOT appreciate all the hate Elena Gilbert constantly gets. The girl did what she had to do to save her brother. I would have done the same thing. So I love Elena Gilbert, and i do not like seeing Elena Gilbert hate on my dash.
